ISO files are images -- exact copies -- of optical disks such as CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray disks. ISO files are uncompressed and often consume substantial disk space. If you regularly deal with ISO files in your business, you could see some space-saving benefit from zipping them using the native ZIP support in Windows 7. No additional software is required.
1.
Open the Start menu, click on 'Computer' in the right-hand side of the window and navigate to the location of the ISO file you wish to zip.
2.
Right-click on the ISO file, click 'Send to' and choose 'Compressed (zipped) folder.' The process may take a few minutes because ISO files frequently exceed several hundred megabytes.
3.
Enter a name for the zipped ISO file once it has been compressed.
